Open Access policy
Vestnik KazNMU was established in 2007 and has operated as an Open Access journal at least since 2012, as evidenced by its freely accessible electronic archive containing issues published from 2012 onwards.
The journal provides immediate and free online access to its published content. Current and archived full-text articles are available on the journal’s website without subscription fees, access charges, registration requirements, or embargo periods.
1. Open Access and Licensing History
1.1 All articles are made available online immediately upon publication through the journal’s website and may be read in full free of charge.
1.2 Prior to 2026, Vestnik KazNMU had already operated under an Open Access publishing model. Under the journal’s previous Open Access policy, users were permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, and print the full texts of published articles. Electronic versions of previous issues were also made freely accessible through the journal’s online archive.
1.3 Beginning with Issue No. 1 of 2026, all newly published articles in Vestnik KazNMU are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). The licence notice and logo are displayed on the journal’s website and in the full texts of the articles.
1.4 The introduction of the CC BY 4.0 licence in 2026 did not mark the beginning of the journal’s Open Access publishing model. Vestnik KazNMU had already been operating as an Open Access journal prior to 2026. The adoption of CC BY 4.0 formalized and standardized the licensing and reuse terms applicable to newly published articles.
2. Article Processing Charges, Waivers, and Payment Terms
2.1 The journal applies article processing charges (APCs) in accordance with the official Price List, effective from Issue No. 3 of 2025.
2.2 Waivers or discounts may be granted to certain categories of authors, as specified in the official Price List.
2.3 APCs are payable only after a manuscript has been formally accepted for publication.
2.4 Early payment is not permitted and does not influence peer review or editorial decisions.

3. Licensing and Usage Rights
3.1 Copyright ownership, licensing conditions, author rights, and permitted uses of published articles are described in the journal’s Copyright Policy.
3.2 Articles published beginning with Issue No. 1 of 2026 are licensed under CC BY 4.0.
3.3 Articles published before 2026 remain freely accessible through the journal’s online archive. Their reuse conditions are governed by the Open Access, copyright, and licensing terms applicable at the time of publication, unless otherwise stated in the individual article.
4. Editorial Independence and Transparency
4.1 Peer review and editorial decision-making are conducted independently of any payments. APCs, where applicable, are charged only after acceptance and do not affect editorial evaluation.
4.2 The journal maintains editorial independence and follows recognized principles of publication ethics.
5. Archiving, DOI, and Long-Term Availability
5.1 Articles published under the journal’s current publishing workflow are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through Crossref.
5.2 The journal maintains a freely accessible online archive of published issues and takes reasonable measures to ensure the long-term availability and preservation of published content through the journal archive and secure backup systems.
